The Media Monitoring Project of Zimbabwe (MMPZ) has condemned in the strongest terms the deliberate jamming of SW Radio Africa's broadcasts, saying its an assault on freedom of expression.

In attempts to appear balanced in their coverage of all political parties ahead of the March elections, as stipulated by the SADC guidelines on elections, state-owned Zimbabwe TV and Radio Zimbabwe have given the opposition Movement for Democratic Change(MDC) and ZANU very rare opportunities to talk on their preparations for the forthcoming poll. However, Zimbabwe's Broadcasting Holdings' pretence was fully exposed by the tone of their story, which was biased against the MDC.

While the Zimbabwean government media spiritedly reports about the alleged international community’s transgressions against Zimbabwe it is ironically quiet about government’s own human rights violations against the citizenry, the Media Monitoring Project Zimbabwe (MMPZ) reports in its weekly media updates.
