Malima Advocacy Centre-Up and Running
|
OneWorld Africa visited the Sinazongwe District Development Centre (SDDC) from 14-16 of November 2007 to set up an advocacy centre in the area. This is a follow up to the findings obtained in the baseline survey conducted from 12-14th of June 2007.
The process leading to the setting of the centre was in three fold, first by meeting the area association representatives to discuss the report and the MOU, followed by meeting the officials at Malima Buleya Cooperative Centre and lastly by conducting sensitisation campaigns in the area associations in the villages. On 14th of November 2007, OWA met the area associations at Sinazongwe District Development Centre. A total of 17 representatives attended the meeting. Two computers and a printer provided by OneWorld Africa were connected for use. Other equipment given includes a Megaphone and a radio set. SDDC would decide where to place the Pay Phone once a meeting was called to look at issues regarding the operations of the centre. OWA also conducted a full day’s training to 23 participants drawn from the area associations. The training looked into detail on how to use the computer; word processing, archiving, retrieving documents, printing, using the mobile pay phone and operating a radio set. Ends OWA |
