29.12.2006 Sono 2.989 i soldati statunitensi caduti in Iraq e il tragico annuncio della morte del soldato numero 3000 riunirà pacifisti, famiglie di soldati, antimilitaristi e ‘veterani contro la guerra’ il 27 gennaio nelle piazze di 140 città degli Stati Uniti per dimostrazioni contro la guerra. “Questa orribile e tragica tappa ci permette di ricordare a questo paese la quotidiana perdita di vite umane in una guerra che non doveva cominciare” - ha detto Nacy Lessin, co-fondatrice dell’associazione ‘Military families speak out’. Intanto secondo la CNN le forze armate degli Stati Uniti, in difficoltà nel raggiungere una sufficiente quantità di nuove reclute, stanno considerando la possibilità di ammettere nell'esercito un numero maggiore di persone prive della cittadinanza americana.
