29.09.2006 Secondo i sondaggi gli ultimi scandali che hanno coinvolto l’entourage di Lula non dovrebbero scalfire l’immagine del presidente-sindacalista che le rilevazioni statistiche continuano a dare intorno al 51,5% delle preferenze di voto. Il Consiglio indigenista missionario (CIMI), una delle organizzazioni per i diritti umani più importanti per il sostegno dei popoli indigeni, critica la politica del Goverrno Lula circa gli indigeni brasiliani. "La situazione degli indigeni brasiliani sostanzialmente non è cambiata. E' vero che nel marzo 2006 è stata istituita la Commissione per la politica indigena, ma di fatto finora essa esiste solo sulla carta". Il Cimi chiede l'adozione immediata di misure effettive a favore dei 235 popoli indigeni del Brasile. Anche l'ONU critica la politica brasiliana per gli indigeni. APM e il CIMI chiedono al nuovo Governo brasiliano di adeguarsi agli obblighi dettati dalla Convenzione ILO 169 per il pieno rispetto dei diritti umani e delle libertà fondamentali dei popoli indigeni.
