Il 16 giugno all’interno della campagna “Europa per la pace”, è stata realizzata a Torino una giornata per il disarmo nucleare e contro la guerra globale. L'iniziativa, organizzata da "Mondo senza guerre" e "Cantieri di pace" ha preso avvio con stand informativi di numerose associazioni. Sono seguite diverse conferenze tra cui quella di Massimo Zucchetti che ha aggiornato sulla situazione in Corea ed in Iran e sulle ragioni per cui lo scudo stellare causerebbe il superamento della cosiddetta "Mutua Distruzione Assicurata" (MAD) mettendo il pianeta sull'orlo di una possibile "guerra nucleare". Anche il premio Nobel per la Pace, Mikhail Gorbachev ha dato il proprio appoggio all'iniziativa "per attirare l’attenzione dell’opinione pubblica europea sul pericolo del ritorno della minaccia nucleare in Europa".
