Zimbabwe election: cliffhanger
31.03.2008 Zimbabweans heard Sunday night that the results of this weekend's general elections would be declared from 4am GMT on Monday, amidst mounting fears that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission's failure to reveal the outcome of the vote earlier signalled further efforts to rig the polls.

27.03.2008 Malawi Information and Civic Education Minister Patricia Kaliati on Friday said that the country will have a booming information and communication technology services after successfully piloting ICT telecentres in some districts of the country. To be regulated by the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA), the telecentres will be run by women as a way of involving them in ICT activities, the minister said.

25.03.2008 Convergence has been creeping up on the telecoms and Internet sectors in Africa. Orange has been quietly promoting its Livebox product in a widening range of countries and Telkom will shortly launch IP-TV services through Telkom Media. Gateway Communications set up GTV to compete with DStv in the satellite Pay TV market. However, up until now there has been little data to work out what any of this might mean. In a world in which telcos are becoming broadcasters and broadcasters may yet return the favour by offering voice and Internet services, telcos and ISPs need to know what their peers in the broadcast sector are doing.
