30.09.2005 A cinque giorni dall'arresto dei loro leader, la sorte dei Boscimani del Kalahari ha subito oggi un clamoroso capovolgimento. Alla First People of the Kalahari (FPK), l'organizzazione dei Boscimani Gana e Gwi impegnata in una dura battaglia per il ritorno di questo popolo nelle sue terre ancestrali, oggi è stato assegnato il Right Livelihood Award, il prestigioso premio svedese noto anche come "Premio Nobel Alternativo". Il riconoscimento è stato assegnato ai Boscimani per la loro "risoluta resistenza agli sfratti forzati dalle terre ancestrali" e per la loro strenua battaglia "per vedersi riconoscere il diritto di mantenere il loro tradizionale stile di vita".

29.09.2005 Medici Senza Frontiere (MSF) denuncia, in un rapporto pubblicato oggi, l'escalation di violenza nell'applicare le misure per il controllo dell'immigrazione che accompagna l'aumento del fenomeno migratorio al confine tra Marocco e Spagna. Dal 2003 MSF lavora in Marocco a un progetto sull'immigrazione. Dopo 27 mesi di attività, grazie alla raccolta di dettagliati dati medici e testimonianze, l'organizzazione constata che circa il 25% delle visite effettuate tra aprile 2003 e agosto 2005 non sono legate a patologie correlabili alle condizioni di vita precarie in cui vivono gli stranieri, ma ad atti di violenza diretta o indiretta. Su un numero totale di 10.232 consultazioni mediche, 2.544 sono infatti dovute ad episodi di violenza. Secondo le dichiarazioni degli stranieri visitati da MSF, il 44% dei casi di violenza è imputabile alle forze di polizia marocchine e ben il 18% alle forze dell'ordine spagnole.

29.09.2005 Five days after their leaders were arrested and beaten, the Kalahari Bushmen today learnt that their organisation, First People of the Kalahari, had won the "Alternative Nobel Prize" for "resolute resistance against eviction from their ancestral lands, and for upholding the right to their traditional way of life."
The organisation shares the Right Livelihood Award with activists from Canada, Malaysia and Mexico.

29.09.2005 Amnesty International ammonisce che le tensioni politiche, militari ed etniche crescenti nella provincia del Kivu settentrionale nella Repubblica Democratica del Congo (Rdc) potrebbero condurre ad una ripresa del conflitto armato, che rischierebbe di destabilizzare il fragile processo di pace nel paese e di minare ulteriormente la già grave situazione umanitaria e dei diritti umani. Amnesty documenta inoltre come i diversi partiti del governo di transizione della Rdc abbiano contribuito al deterioramento della situazione nel Kivu settentrionale, inclusa l’infiammazione delle tensioni etniche, per far progredire i loro propri interessi politici, economici o militari.
