China is worried that the recent resentment and resistance among the Tibetans could spread to other major minorities whose traditional territories have been colonised and exploited by the majority Han Chinese. Captive breeding of Tibetan antelope, also called the Chiru, may be difficult due to the inhospitable terrain and the need for large financial resources, the Power Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Nuwang Rinjin Joora, has said. The shahtoosh shawl, which provides livelihoods to a large number of people, is made from the hair of the Chiru due to which the animal now figures in the list of endangered species.
