19.02.2008 La Svizzera lo scorso anno ha esportato armi e materiale bellico per complessivi 464,5 milioni di franchi (oltre 290 milioni di euro) con un aumento del 16,8% rispetto al 2006. Se i cinque principali clienti sono sono stati la Germania (62 milioni di franchi), l'Irlanda (51 milioni), gli Stati Uniti, la Danimarca (42 milioni di franchi ciascuno), e la Gran Bretagna (40 milioni) al sesto posto vi è il Pakistan al quale sono stati forniti sei sistemi di difesa antiaerea per un importo di 38 milioni di franchi. Ma lo scorso novembre il Consiglio federale ha sospeso le autorizzazioni di esportazione e ogni ulteriore consegna di materiale bellico al Pakistan. Una richiesta di sospensione delle forniture al Pakistan era stata avanzata lo scorso novembre anche in Italia dalla Rete Disarmo, ma non è stata resa nota alcuna decisione da parte del Governo italiano.

29.11.2005 Sveitsiläiset sanoivat sunnuntaina yksimielisesti "nein", "non" ja "no" geenimuunnelluille tuotteille. Kaikissa 26 kantonissa kiellettiin geenimuunneltujen viljojen ja eläinten kasvattaminen seuraavaksi viideksi vuodeksi, koska niiden pelätään syrjäyttävän nopeasti kasvavan orgaanisen viljelyn ja aiheuttavan terveyshaittoja.

La Svizzera dice no agli ogm - da greenplanet
28.11.2005 Niente ogm in Svizzera per cinque anni. L’hanno deciso i cittadini, democraticamente, con un referendum che s’è svolto ieri. Il 55,7% degli svizzeri ha votato sì alla moratoria che - nel dettaglio - impedisce agli agricoltori elvetici di coltivare piante geneticamente modificate o di allevare animali transgenici per il prossimo quinquennio. Il Paese ha votato compatto: hanno detto “no” agli ogm tutti i 26 Cantoni in maniera omogenea. Il risultato del referendum elvetico offre spunti interessanti di riflessione anche per il ministro dell’Agricoltura italiano, Gianni Alemanno: «Il risultato deve far attentamente riflettere: è una voce profonda che viene dal cuore dell'Europa. Nessuno può pensare al popolo elvetico come ad un popolo nemico della ricerca scientifica, suggestionato da spinte demagogiche. Eppure - precisa Alemanno - il risultato è chiaro: la maggioranza dei cittadini elvetici non vuole nessuna forma di coltivazione o di importazione di ogm sul proprio territorio».

24.08.2004 The decision has been made by the Swiss Ministry of Justice to hand over most of the funds from the ex-dictator's frozen account, now determined to have originated from criminal sources, to the Nigerian government. For its part, Nigeria has agreed to use the assets to finance development projects under Swiss supervision.
