Oxfam and Internet giant MySpace have teamed up to present 31 "Rock for Darfur" concerts around the United States plus Australia and South Africa on November 10. Last year's concerts raised $50,000 to support the people caught up in the violence in western Sudan.

KHARTOUM, Oct 25 (IPS) - Long-awaited peace talks between Sudan's government and rebel groups from the country's war-torn Darfur region are due to begin in the Libyan port city of Sirte Saturday.

A key group from South Sudan chose to rejoin the Khartoum government just days after leaving it saying that the terms of the 2005 peace accord had been violated.

The south Darfur town of Haskanita that witnessed a deadly attack against African Union peacekeepers a week ago has been burned down, the United Nations Mission in Sudan reported.

A new report on the torture of Darfuris in Khartoum is published in London today as activists and survivors prepare to rally outside Parliament to demand an end to the British government's policy of sending Darfuri victims of ethnic cleansing back to Khartoum.
