22.09.2006 Afganistanilaiset toimittajat joutuvat työskentelemään yhä kovemman painostuksen ja uhkailun alla. Pääasiassa painostus tulee hallituksen ja alueellisten sotapäällikköjen taholta. "Todellisuudesta raportoiminen on toimittajille entistä haasteellisempaa", sanoo maan johtavan journalistijärjestön johtaja Rahimullah Samander.

18.09.2006 "Heikko oikeusjärjestelmä, tuomioiden toimeenpanon jättäminen ja laaja-alainen naisten syrjintä ovat syynä kunniamurhien lisääntyneeseen määrään Afganistanissa", sanoi Afganistanin riippumaton ihmisoikeuskomissio (AIHCR) viime perjantaina. Kunniamurhat ovat kasvavassa määrin yleistyneet Afganistanissa. Kunniamurhalla tarkoitetaan naisten tai tyttöjen tappamista, joiden uskotaan loukanneen suvun mainetta ja häpäisseen perheen nimen.

03.09.2006 Da un cittadino di Curno, in provincia di Bergamo, è partito il 28 maggio scorso un appello per il ritiro delle truppe dall'Afghanistan. L’appello ha finora raggiunto quasi 600 firme. Firme di cittadini comuni, firme di associazioni e di comitati, firme di pacifisti importanti. A livello nazionale abbiamo fra gli aderenti Gino Strada, fondatore di Emergency, padre Alex Zanotelli, missionario comboniano, Giulietto Chiesa e Vittorio Agnoletto, parlamentari europei, pacifisti fortemente impegnati nella realizzazione della Pace. Come associazioni ricordiamo il Partito Umanista, la Lega per il Disarmo unilaterale, il Social Forum della Valpolcevera, il Coordinamento Bastaguerra, il Comitato ATTAC di Firenze, l'Associazione Progetto Gaia, l'Associazione Mondo Senza Guerre, la Casa della Legalità di Genova, l'Associazione Un Altro mondo ONLUS, oltre a diversi circoli del Partito della Rifondazione Comunista e a diversi gruppi territoriali di Emergency. Oggi l'appello è stato reinviato a tutti i deputati e senatori del centro sinistra con la richiesta di non utilizzare le somme risparmiate dall'eventuale ritiro per finanziare altre missioni.
