A Tajikistan agency is de-mining the Afghan-Tajik border which is one of the highest mine-risk areas in central Asia. The Tajik de-mining body hopes to clear mines in a 2,000 sq metres area within three weeks.

Tämän päivän Afganistanissa ei ole kenelläkään helppoa. Tavallisen ihmisen elämä on turvatonta; aseelliset, ihmishenkiä vaativat yhteenotot ovat yleisiä ja kaikenlainen terrori rehottaa. Laittomat vangitsemiset, kidutus, raiskaukset ja naiskauppa ovat arkipäivää. Maan huonosta ihmisoikeustilanteesta kävi Helsingissä kertomassa Afganistanin ihmisoikeuskomitean puheenjohtaja Sima Samar.
