29.11.2006 Greenpeace has criticised the Indian government over its e-waste - waste from electronic and electrical equipment - policies for ignoring international laws and for putting the burden of handling e-waste on consumers and not producers. The organisation has said that the policy will "open the floodgates for dumping e-wastes in the country."

28.11.2006 Aasian talousjätit Kiina ja Intia tiivistävät yhteistyötään, mutta sen hidasteina on sekä vanhoja että uusia ennakkoluuloja. Vieraillessaan Intiassa marraskuun lopulla Kiinan presidentti Hu Jintao allekirjoitti 13 yhteistyösopimusta Intian pääministerin Manmohan Singhin kanssa. Yksi niistä koskee ydinenergian käyttöä ja kehittämistä.

The discussions were on overcoming barriers to fair trade and making it work for the socio economic development of the marginalised sections of the population.

Helsingissä pidetyssä seminaarissa haettiin syitä Intian talousihmeeseen ja etsittiin ratkaisua maan köyhyysongelmaan. Selityksiä talouskasvulle haettiin niin maan historiasta, koulujärjestelmästä kuin protektionismistakin.

24.11.2006 The Panchayat Presidentship is not a bed of roses to the newly elected Dalit presidents in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu as a majority of them remain sheer puppets in the hands of the upper castes.

The recent gruesome murder of the newly elected panchayat president belongs to dalit community in Tirunelveli district of sourther Tamil Nadu (India), has once again proved that no political reservation in the local body elections would bring out any change in the plight of the entire Dalit community that remains thrown to the wolves under the oppression of the caste Hindus.

Nykyisin kuulemme kuitenkin aina vain enenevissä määrin maan IT-buumista ja käsitys todellisuudesta suurien kaupunkien ulkopuolella saattaa hämärtyä. Tehelkan järjestämässä keskustelutilaisuudessa puhuttiin näiden kahden eri maailman kohtaamisesta ja pyrittiin niiden yhdistämiseen.

20.11.2006 Chunchun Kumarin naama on tullut intialaisille tutuksi Unicefin julisteesta, jossa vaaditaan lapsityön lopettamista. Kyse on Intiassa lokakuussa alkaneesta maanlaajuisesta kampanjasta, joka liittyy lapsityövoiman käytön kieltoon muun muassa kodeissa ja ravintoloissa. Lukutaidoton Chunchun käy kuitenkin edelleen töissä tukeakseen perhettään.
