Europarlamentin käsittelyyn on piakkoin tulossa päätöslauselmaesitys, jossa vaaditaan asekauppasääntöjen muuntamista sitoviksi lain edessä. Lisäksi parlamentti vaatii ministerineuvostolta selitystä jäsenmaiden asekaupoista Tshadiin. Maa kärsii hallituksen ja kapinallisten välisestä väkivallasta.

Tshadilainen oppositiojohtaja pelkää, että maa voi valtataistelun vuoksi kadota kartalta, naapuriensa jakamana.

Given the tumultuous security situation in Chad and the Sudanese government's large-scale attack on three towns in West Darfur, the largest U.S. organization working on African affairs is calling for a "sustained, wide-ranging international engagement [in Sudan] at the highest levels."

Many aid workers are leaving Chad given the recent escalation of fighting between rebels and the government, but, for now, most of the 500,000 refugees and displaced people in eastern Chad will continue to receive "at least minimal [humanitarian] assistance."

Viimeaikaisten levottomuuksien repimässä Tshadissa on jo ennestään noin 180 000 tshadilaista evakkoa ja 300 000 sudanilaista sekä keskiafrikkalaista pakolaista. Maan humanitaarisen avun tarve lisääntynee, arvioi Kirkon Ulkomaanapu, joka jatkaa työtään Itä-Tshadin Koukoun alueella levottomuuksista huolimatta.

I ribelli del Ciad hanno lasciato la scorsa notte la capitale n'Djamena "per offrire alla popolazione la possibilità di scappare": le strade della città sono pattugliate dai militari, dopo i duri scontri di ieri, che hanno visto le forze governative far intervenire elicotteri e carrarmati rompere l'assedio al Palazzo Presidenziale. Il Segretario generale dell'Onu è "profondamente allarmato per la situazione pericolosa in Ciad" ed ha espresso particolare preoccupazione per il "deteriorarsi della già grave situazione umanitaria dei 285.000 rifugiati e di 180.000 sfollati interni che si trovano nel Ciad orientale". Il Consiglio di Sicurezza dell'Onu si riunirà in una sessione d'urgenza per discutere la situazione. Rinviata la missione Eufor Ciad-Rca, rimane da vedere se la Francia deciderà di intervenire a sostegno del regime o lasciare gli eventi fare il loro corso.

Chadian President Idriss Deby has affirmed that nearly half of the 180,000 displaced people in Chad will return to their homes by July. Local and UN officials believe this may be possible if security requirements are met.
