31.05.2006 (Prishtinë, 30 maj 2006) Sistemi i drejtësisë penale ende nuk po u del zot viktimave në Kosovë, edhe pse tani shtatë vite Kosova është nën administrim ndërkombëtar, vlerëson Human Rights Watch në një raport të ri të publikuar sot. Në ndërkohë, bashkësia ndërkombëtare këto ditë është duke negociuar me intensitet të madh statusin e ardhshëm të Kosovës.

25.05.2006 Medijska organizacija jugoistočne Evrope (SEEMO), mreža urednika, medijskih funkcionera i vodećih novinara iz jugoistočne Evrope sa sjedištem u Beču je užasnuta zatvorskom kaznom na koju je osuđen novinar iz Kumanova, Makedonija. SEEMO je uputio oštro javno pismo najvišim institucijama vlasti u Makedoniji kojim se osuđuje ovakva kazna.

25.05.2006 I bambini scomparsi in Italia nel 2005 sono stati circa 2.000, alcuni ritrovati. Ma tutt'oggi nell'Unione Europea non è possibile ottenere statistiche esaurienti relative ai bambini scomparsi e sfruttati a scopo sessuale: la raccolta dei dati è raramente organizzata a livello nazionale, le informazioni disponibili sono difficilmente accessibili. "Il fenomeno dei bambini scomparsi è una vera tragedia, purtroppo sempre più diffusa e che i paesi dell'Unione Europea non possono accettare" - ha sottolineato il vicepresidente della Commissione europea, Franco Frattini, in occasione della 'Giornata internazionale per i bambini scomparsi' che si celebra oggi. Per rispondere a questa terribile piaga la Commissione europea intende proporre di attivare un numero di soccorso unico in tutta l'Ue (forse il 116) e un sito internet europeo di facile consultazione a cui potranno far ricorso tutti i minorenni e che serva anche a sensibilizzare l'opinione pubblica sul grave fenomeno. Intanto le associazioni che aderiscono al 'Coordinamento per i diritti dell'infanzia e dell'adolescenza' chiedono al Governo italiano che le competenze in materia di infanzia e adolescenza vengano ricondotte ad un unico dicastero.

24.05.2006 The Vienna-based South East Europe Media Organisation (SEEMO), a network of editors, media executives and leading journalists from South East Europe and an affiliate of the International Press Institute (IPI), is outraged by a prison sentence handed to a journalist in Kumanovo, Republic of Macedonia – FYROM. SEEMO sent a strong public letter condemning the sentence to the highest offices of power in the Republic of Macedonia.

13.05.2006 Amnesty International teme che durante i Mondiali di calcio, in programma in Germania dal 9 giugno al 9 luglio, vi sarà un aumento della tratta di donne e ragazze a scopo di sfruttamento sessuale. L’organizzazione per i diritti umani chiede alle istituzioni e ai governi europei di fare tutto quanto è in loro potere per impedire che ciò avvenga. Nelle 12 città che ospiteranno le partite (Berlino, Colonia, Dortmund, Francoforte, Gelsenkirchen, Amburgo, Hannover, Kaiserlautern, Lipsia, Monaco, Norimberga e Stoccarda) si prevede l’affluenza di oltre un milione di tifosi. L’Assemblea parlamentare del Consiglio d’Europa teme che tra 30.000 e 60.000 donne e ragazze potrebbero essere vittime di tratta per soddisfare l’aumento delle richieste di prestazioni sessuali. Amnesty International chiede agli Stati europei di firmare e ratificare la Convenzione del Consiglio d’Europa sull’azione contro la tratta di esseri umani, e all’Unione europea di assicurare che tutte le misure vigenti e di prossima attuazione relative alla tratta di esseri umani prevedano come minimo gli stessi standard di protezione contenuti nella Convenzione: ad oggi, la Convenzione è stata firmata da 25 dei 46 Stati membri del Consiglio d’Europa ed entrerà in vigore alla decima ratifica.

Ketään ei ole asetettu tuomiolle tapahtumasta, jossa sadat ihmiset menettivät henkensä. Ihmisoikeusjärjestö Human Rights Wach perää kansainväliseltä yhteisöltä tiukkoja otteita kriisin selvittämiseksi.

10.05.2006 In a statement to Dawn Amna, who had recently spearheaded a revolt against the widespread vani tradition in Mianwali, said: “It seems that we are being punished for crying out against the cruelty. Hopes for justice kindled with the intervention of the Supreme Court have been snuffed out as lower courts are constantly denying bails to my (imprisoned) uncles, while the people of rival family have been released after serving only a short stint in the lock-ups”. 10.05.2006 Odbor za ljudska prava i prava nacionalnih manjina Hrvatskog sabora na jučerašnjoj je sjednici većinom glasova, uz suzdržane zastupnice Hrvatske demokratske zajednice, podržao prijedloge amandmana na Kazneni zakon Pravnog tima udruga Iskorak i Kontra kojima se u kazneno zakonodavstvo uvodi termin zločina iz mržnje.

The posters were created by the Ideology Creative Team from Sarajevo.

The NBA has criticized the Supreme Court of India for it’s “anti-people” decision to allow further construction of the dam, without a clear mandate over the rehabilitation of oustees from the Narmada Valley. Activists from the valley along with writers, film-makers, journalists, as well as leaders and members of peoples' movements, resolved to continue the struggle to hold the Indian government accountable for violation of human rights of the marginalised.
