22.05.2006 L'associazione Libera annuncia che promuoverą una serie di inziative perchč l'Ue introduca un provvedimento di confisca dei beni alla criminalitą organizzata con le stessa validitą del mandato di arresto europeo. "Le sfide del futuro si delineano sul fronte europeo contro tutte le mafie, perchč č chiaro che i denari di provenienza illecita della mafia russa, delle mafie dell'ex Jugoslavia e della mafia siciliana si trovano anche al di fuori dei confini dei rispettivi Paesi" - ha affermato don Ciotti in un convegno a Palermo dove ha presentato i nuovi canali di commercializzazione dei prodotti agroalimentari provenienti da terre sottratte ai boss mafiosi e gestite da cooperative giovanili in Sicilia. In dieci anni sono stati confiscati dallo Stato 6.500 beni, oltre 2.500 sono stati destinati ad attivitą sociali e di volontariato.
