Afrikan unionin rauhanturvaajat saavat sen sijaan jäädä, jos joukkojen vahvuus pysyy nykyisenä ja niiden mandaattia pidennetään. Nykyisellään mandaatin on määrä päättyä Darfurissa syyskuun lopussa, minkä jälkeen alueen pelätään ajautuvaan täysimittaiseen sotaan.
