Savez zenskih organizacija u Makedoniji (SOZM) održao je radionicu u okviru medijskog projekta Žene to mogu. Na radionici je zaključeno da mediji igraju odlučujuću i ključnu ulogu u kreiranju javnog mnjenja i informisanju na polju jednakosti polova, ali da je pre svega neophodno da se poveća senzitivnost za rodna pitanja u medijima.

The Union of Women Associations of Macedonia (SOZM) held a workshop under its Women Can Do It in the Media Project. The workshop, held yesterday, concluded that the medi play a key and decisive role in the creation of opinions and information in the field of gender equality, but they first need to increase their internal gender sensitivity.

More than 500 publishers and journalists were arrested and jailed for practicing journalism in 2005 and such journalists number several thousand over the past decade. Dozens of them remain in prison today, serving sentences as long as 20 years. The World Association of Newspapers (WAN) is organising the World Press Freedom Day on May 3, 2006 to highlight the plight of journalists facing abuse.

Four daily papers in Kosovo and four in Serbia, have been monitored, by the member NGOs of the Kosovo Initiative Program (KIP), which is supported by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), on the manner of reporting on return field, Kosovos status and Kai Eides report. Project has been led by the nongovernmental organization "Initiative for Peace" in cooperation with NGO Sfida" in Kosovo, and "Fractal" as well as SDF from Belgrade. The project was supported by the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network- BIRN offices in Prishtina and London.

The Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT) is giving filmmakers a lesson on gender and sexuality. Expanding the boundaries of the frame to include issues that most mainstream television usually leave out of their picture, PSBT is holding a two-day "Gender Sexuality'' workshop that began here on Monday.
