Kaksikymmentä vuotta sitten Ukrainassa, lähellä Tshernobylin kaupunkia räjähti ydinvoimala. Turman katastrofaalisista seurauksista kärsitään edelleen. Nyt monet eurooppalaiset poliitikot pitävät ydinvoimaa keinona ilmastonmuutoksen torjumiseksi ja energiansaannin turvaamiseksi. Maan ystävien mukaan ydinvoiman sijaan ratkaisuja pitäisi etsiä uusiutuvasta energiasta.

Energia, tra efficienza e risparmio, fonti alternative e rinnovabili: questo il tema dominante oggi a Terra Futura, la mostra convegno delle buone pratiche di sostenibilità (Firenze Fortezza Da Basso, 31 marzo-2 aprile). Questioni portate alla ribalta anche dalle emergenze degli ultimi tempi, e che qui trova visibilità nelle diverse dimensioni dell'evento: dibattiti, laboratori e buone pratiche in rassegna. "La nostra Terra Futura: oltre il petrolio, oltre l'ingiustizia" è il titolo, appunto, di questa terza edizione, che assume il petrolio a simbolo di un sistema socioeconomico ormai evidentemente vulnerabile e criticato su molteplici fronti: un modello che oggi più che mai evidenzia anche lo stretto legame tra crisi ambientale, povertà e situazioni di conflitto nel mondo. La giornata si è aperta con una solenne commemorazione dell'anniversario della catastrofe nucleare di Cernobyl. A distanza di vent'anni sono ancora pesanti le conseguenze per le popolazioni coinvolte e l'ambiente: uno spunto di riflessione che ha aperto i dibattiti sulle energie rinnovabili e alternative.
