Greenpeace India has released a set of thermograph images of the Mysore Palace as a part of its campaign to phase out inefficient lighting in India to fight climate change. The palace uses approximately 96,000 ordinary light bulbs, which are energy inefficient and replacing them with compact fluroscent lamps (CFLs) can save Rs 41 lakhs and a significant amount of power.

ActionAid’s Hunger Monitoring project reveals that climate change and oppression in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh have worsened hunger and deprivation amongst the population. The study points out significant changes in weather patterns over the last four to five years which has adversely affected farming.

Deforestasi terbukti ikut menyumbang GRK penyebab perubahan iklim. Namun sayangnya, Protokol Kyoto tidak memasukkan upaya pencegahan deforestasi sebagai bagian upaya menurunkan GRK. Akankah pertemuan COP 13 di Bali akan merubahnya?

A US study reveals that amphibians, known for their resilience, are at a risk because of climate change. The study talks of a complex link between climate change, radiation exposure and amphibian morbidity and is concerned about the worldwide decline of amphibians due to global environmental changes.

Climate experts say 2007 will be the second warmest year on record since the 1860s. Current floods in Pakistan and heat waves in China and Greece may be signs of further disruptions caused by global warming. The warmest year on record so far has been 1998.

Pemanasan global ternyata tidak hanya mengakibatkan kerusakan ekologi. Bencana yang diakibatkan keserakahan negara-negara kaya dalam mengonsumsi energi fosil ini juga ditengarai akan mengakibatkan kemiskinan.

Economic growth eludes the poor in South Asia, according to the recently-released UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Report 2007. The report says that over 30 per cent of the population still lives on a dollar a day in the region.

Pemanasan global ternyata tidak hanya diakibatkan oleh emisi dari bahan bakar fosil. Penggunaan pendingin yang memakai bahan perusak ozon semacam freon pun dapat mengakibatkan emisi gas rumah kaca sebagai penyebab pemanasan global.
