Asian Development Bank and the World Trade Organization, in partnership with the Philippine Government, is hosting a two-day conference on "Mobilizing Aid for Trade: Focus Asia and the Pacific" on 19-20 September at Manila, Philippines. It will bring trade and finance ministers, key donors, and the private sector to focus on the trade and infrastructure challenges facing the Asia and the Pacific region.

India and Pakistan agreed to allow cross-border cargo truck services, aimed at boosting trade. The agreement, which came after a meeting between the officials of the two countries, will help to improve transport of goods and led to the restoration of diplomatic, sporting and transportation links.

Penandatanganan kesepakatan kemitraan ekonomi Indonesia-Jepang dinilai hanya akan merugikan perekonomian Indonesia. Pasalnya, perjanjian perdagangan bebas kedua negara itu diyakini berdampak buruk bagi hajat hidup orang banyak.

Afrikassa on meneillään voimakas kasvu matkapuhelinten sekä elektronisten pankki- ja kaupankäyntisovellusten hyödyntämisessä. Useimmat maat ovat myös onnistuneet luomaan kansallisen IT-politiikan. Tästä huolimatta Afrikan maita kannustetaan laajentamaan informaatioteknologiaa kaikille talouden saroille kansainvälisen kilpailun edistämiseksi.

Ibrahima Coulibaly è un contadino sindacalista, fondatore del Coordinamento nazionale delle organizzazioni contadine del Mali. È anche membro del Comitato Regionale del Roppa. È padre di quattro figli e vive nei dintorni di Bamako (Mali) e ha tenuto questa relazione al recente Convegno di Missione Oggi e e Europafrica-Terre contadine su "Cibo e mercato: produttori e consumatori del mondo insieme per la sovranità alimentare". La sovranità alimentare, per noi contadini soprattutto dell’Africa, rappresenta l’ultima opportunità di metterci in piedi e camminare con le nostre gambe. L’Africa è un continente dove la popolazione contadina è ancora la grande maggioranza: coloro che vivono con l’agricoltura direttamente o indirettamente sono il 75-80% della popolazione. Il più grande pericolo che abbiamo oggi sono gli Ape (Accordi di partenariato economico) che l’Europa vuole farci firmare e che ci spingono ancor più ad aprire i mercati.

Viime vuonna Reilun kaupan merkkituotteiden myynti kasvoi kansainvälisesti 40%. Reilun kaupan tuotteiden myynnin arvo oli noin 1,6 miljardia euroa. Kaikki merkittävät tuoteryhmät olivat kasvussa, kasvuprosentit olivat kaakaossa 93%, kahvissa 53%, teessä 41% ja banaaneissa 31%.

The tribals of an east India state, Orissa leave for London to protest at the annual general meeting of mining giant Vedanta about the environmental impact of its proposed aluminium mining and processing plant in the Niyamgiri Hills, which is full of bauxite and other minerals. The plant will severely affect the livelihood and way of life of the tribals.
