Ruokakapoissa myytävät Reilun kaupan kukat ovat arkipäiväistäneet suomalaisten kukkien kulutusta, kun niitä voi ostaa niitä tavallisen kauppareissun yhteydessä.

Greenpeace criticized the decision of the India power ministry to not introduce a legislation to ban the light bulb in India by 2010. Reacting to the ministry's statement that a legislation to ban the light bulb in India is premature, Greenpeace pointed out the government of Ghana for taking key measures to implement a complete ban on the light bulb in the country.

The bottled water industry is global in nature. But it is designed to sell the same product to two completely different markets: one water rich and the other water scarce. The question is whether this industry will have different outcomes in these two worlds. Or will we, for two opposite reasons, agree that their business costs us the earth and that it is not good for us?

Il 20% della popolazione mondiale, concentrata in 30 Paesi, deve fronteggiare problemi di carenza di acqua: una percentuale che entro il 2025 diventerà del 30% in 50 Paesi. Sono le cifre più significative fornite dalla Nazioni Unite sul fronte dell'emergenza acqua che è al centro della "Settimana mondiale dell'acqua" (World Water Week) in corso a Stoccolma dal 12-18 agosto. Gli esperti informano che sono 2,6 miliardi le persone nel mondo a non avere accesso a servizi sanitari adeguati e a dover fare i conti con le malattie che ne derivano come la diarrea che uccide 2 milioni di bambini ogni anno. Tra le questioni sul tappeto quella dei biocarburanti: la prospettiva è infatti che l'acqua possa essere sempre più impiegata in futuro per produrre i cereali per le bioenergie, invece che a sfamare le popolazioni.

Viime vuonna Reilun kaupan merkkituotteiden myynti kasvoi kansainvälisesti 40%. Reilun kaupan tuotteiden myynnin arvo oli noin 1,6 miljardia euroa. Kaikki merkittävät tuoteryhmät olivat kasvussa, kasvuprosentit olivat kaakaossa 93%, kahvissa 53%, teessä 41% ja banaaneissa 31%.

Delhi based NGO, Chintan which works at the grassroots with the urban poor, waste picking children and adults has inaugurated its first plastic recycling centre in Delhi. The objective is to set up a replicable well designed recycling depot and build the capacity of the informal sector.
