28.03.2008 Nuovo record per l'esportazione di armamenti italiani che nel 2007 sfiora i 2,4 miliardi di euro grazie soprattutto ad un'autorizzazione per missili contraerei della MBDA (Finmeccanica) verso il Pakistan: il regime di Islamabad con 471,6 milioni di euro si attesta come il primo compratore di armi "made in Italy". Sono i primi dati del Rapporto annuale reso noto oggi dalla Presidenza del Consiglio che sono stati presentati dall'Ufficio del Consigliere Militare ad una delegazione della Rete Disarmo. Record anche delle autorizzazioni alle banche che salgono ad oltre 1,2 miliardi di euro. "Il gruppo Unicredit con oltre 183 milioni di euro si profila come la principale 'banca armata' italiana nonostante la policy di 'uscita progressiva dal settore' annunciata fin dal 2001 dall'Amministratore delegato" - sottolinea Giorgio Beretta della Campagna 'banche armate'.

Turismo responsabile: una proposta di Tremembè
10.03.2008 Il turismo è la più grande industria del pianeta, produce il 7% del fatturato complessivo mondiale e dal 1950 al 2000 il numero dei turisti è aumentato in modo esponenziale passando da 25 a 702 milioni. Il settore costituisce un’opportunità anche per i paesi più poveri dove sta crescendo seppur con quote di mercato inferiori rispetto ai paesi del Nord. Il turismo può diventare uno stimolo ed una risorsa per la lotta contro la povertà capace di generare risorse proprie per uno sviluppo equo e sostenibile nei paesi del Sud del mondo. Può farsi cooperazione allo sviluppo quando, attraverso una pratica alternativa, offre ai viaggiatori opportunità di comprendere i meccanismi di ingiustizia e negazione dei diritti umani. Di questo e sugli sviluppi della "nuova cooperazione" si discuterà a Trento nell'incontro pubblico 'Fare Rete x uno sviluppo + umano' il prossimo 14 marzo.

Number of working women has gone up
08.03.2008 A new study by International Labour Organisation says that the number of employed women has grown by almost 200 million over the last decade reaching the figure of 1.2 billion. Decent and productive employment is crucial in the process of creating greater equality between men and women, says the report.
