Amnesty International ha chiesto alle autorità giudiziarie e politiche dell’Iran di istituire una moratoria immediata per impedire ulteriori esecuzioni di minorenni all’epoca del reato e di modificare le leggi affinché nessun minorenne autore di un reato possa essere condannato a morte. Nel rapporto diffuso oggi, l’organizzazione per i diritti umani ha denunciato che sono almeno 71 i minorenni all’epoca del reato in attesa di esecuzione in Iran, il paese che dal 1990 ha raggiunto il maggior numero di esecuzioni di minorenni. “L’Iran è rimasto praticamente l’unico paese in cui persone di età inferiore a 18 anni all’epoca del reato per cui sono stati giudicati colpevoli vengono messe a morte” – ha dichiarato Malcolm Smart di Amnesty. “È giunto veramente il momento che le autorità iraniane pongano fine, una volta per tutte, a questa pratica vergognosa”.
