"Treviso non è razzista, ma una città civile": per dimostrarlo i cittadini trevigiani hanno lanciato l'appello online 'Treviso città aperta' "per dare all'Italia e a quanti ci guardano nel mondo, un'immagine meno chiusa e claustrofobica". "L’immagine di Treviso è profondamente cambiata negli ultimi anni: la città ospitale e gentile del passato ora appare rancorosa e chiusa. La responsabilità di questo mutamento di percezione è innanzitutto del ceto politico locale che ha preso in ostaggio il 'marchio' trevigiano" - scrivono i promotori dell'appello che vogliono evidenziare come "larga parte di questa società non discrimina le persone in base alla religione, alla sessualità, al colore della pelle". Intanto la Commissione europea ribadisce che non ci possono essere discriminazioni contro i cittadini stranieri a Verona, Romano d’Ezzelino (Vicenza) e Treviso.

Afghanistan government has urged Iran not to deport its illegal migrants, as it does not have the capacity to absorb them. More than two million Afghans live in Iran, of which less than half have the status of valid refugees.

The new Finnish Immigration Service has taken the reign from the Directorate of Immigration. The aim is to improve customer services, and one way of doing this will be the upcoming web-based feedback channels. That will not, however, automatically improve the attitudes in the customer service, something that has also triggered complaints.

Diperlukan keberpihakan pemerintah kepada kaum petani di Bali agar mereka dapat ikut bermain di wilayah pariwisata yang menjadi urat nadi perekonomian Bali. Mestinya pemerintah memfasilitasi para petani agar bisa mengakses kebutuhan pangan ke pasar pariwisata. Kalau ini bisa dilakukan maka diyakini petani akan lebih sejahtera.

Nepal’s recent decision to resettle refugees from Bhutan in third countries is good news for over 107,000 people who have lived in camps for the last 17 years. The first groups of refugees are expected to begin departing next month.
