30.05.2007 Badan Ketahanan Pangan Riau mempublikasikan bahwa dari 1.439 desa yang ada di Riau, sekitar 987 desa akan mengalami rawan pangan. Menurut Walhi Riau, hal itu akibat sumber-sumber penghidupan rakyat berupa lahan pertanian yang subur, hutan, dan sungai telah habis dikuasai dan dirusak oleh perusahaan HTI, Pulp & Paper, perkebunan sawit, dan perusahaan tambang.

15.05.2007 Penyebab banjir di Jakarta lebih besar karena run off (air larian) yang tidak terkendali. Selama ini, perubahan fungsi lahan terjadi di hilir. Perubahan lahan dari hutan menjadi padang rumput menambah run off antara 10 sampai 15%. Sedangkan mengubah hutan menjadi kota menambah run off sampai 90%.

14.05.2007 The Indian government, in its upcoming planning commission meeting on strategies to boost agriculture and its output, is set to address women's right to land. Moving forward on the proposed 30 percent resource allocation for women in XI five year plan, this meeting will address the need to include women's access and control over land, infrastructure support, ICT and technical knowhow, credit, inputs and marketing as a move towards recognizing and enhancing their contribution to growth in the agriculture sector.

07.05.2007 The Gowda community in the southern Indian state of Kerala was persuaded to voluntarily shift from the Tirunelli-Kudrakote, a human - elephant conflict-ridden area. In a significant move the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) with support from the UK-based World Land Trust and the IUCN Netherlands Committee have provided alternate houses, cultivativable land, drinking water, and other civic amenities to the people who opted to relocate.
