28.07.2006 The UN has urged the Sri Lankan government and the Tamil rebels to resume peace talks so that the nearly 300,000 internally displaced people can return to their homes. UN High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres said after a trip to Sri Lanka that conditions should be created all over the country that allow people to return home.

24.07.2006 Mercoledì il Senato si pronuncerà sulle missioni militari internazionali ed in particolare sulla partecipazione italiana all'Isaf/Nato in Afghanistan. Le 7 Ong (Alisei, Aispo, Cesvi, Coopi, Cosv, Gvc, Intersos) dell'Associazione Ong italiane che operano in Afghanistan che costantemente si coordinano nell'ambito del gruppo "Cooperazione in contesti di guerra" confermano la necessità che sia tenuta distinta l'azione militare da quella civile e umanitaria nel paese. Le Ong operano infatti da sempre in piena autonomia e indipendenza, con proprie finalità e identità. "Chiediamo che sia fatta la massima chiarezza sul mandato dell'Isaf - afferma Sergio Marelli, presidente Associazione Ong italiane - e sulle sue regole di ingaggio al fine di assicurare che la legittima presenza multilaterale di stabilizzazione e sicurezza rimanga tale e non si trasformi in alcun caso in operazione di guerra".

18.07.2006 Organizacija Save The Children zatražila je od učesnika u pregovorima o budućem statusu Kosovo, vlada Srbije i Kosova kao i medjunarodne zajednice, da uključe pitanja položaja dece na Kosovu u pregovore o statusu. Ova organizacija podseća da se, nakon šest rundi razgovora o budućnosti Kosova u Beču, čini da deca i prava deteta nisu bili – a i malo je verovatno da će biti – na dnevnom redu pregovora. Mada se ovi pregovori smatraju važnim početkom procesa utvrđivanja konačnog statusa Kosova, pitanja socijalne inkluzije, a pogotovo prava deteta, nisu bila na dnevnom redu.
