31.08.2006 Il decreto-legge sulla caccia n.251/2006 - che doveva porre fine alle violazioni italiane alle normative comunitarie - è miseramente fallito sotto l’implacabile opera di liberalizzazione selvaggia della caccia delle Regioni: tra sabato 2 e domenica 3 settembre, infatti, la caccia si aprirà in anticipo in almeno 15 Regioni (Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Emilia Romagna, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Marche, Molise, Piemonte, Puglia, Sicilia, Toscana, Umbria e Veneto) e nelle province autonome di Trento e Bolzano, mentre addirittura Toscana e Marche hanno consentito la caccia alle specie protette dall’UE (passero, storno, ecc.) in palese violazione dalla Direttiva 79/409/CEE e alle nuove norme del decreto De Castro - denuncia la LAV.

25.08.2006 SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 25 (OneWorld) - A chief prosecutor of Nazi war crimes at Nuremberg has said George W. Bush should be tried for war crimes along with Saddam Hussein. Benjamin Ferencz, who secured convictions for 22 Nazi officers for their work in orchestrating the death squads that killed more than 1 million people, told OneWorld both Bush and Saddam should be tried for starting "aggressive" wars--Saddam for his 1990 attack on Kuwait and Bush for his 2003 invasion of Iraq.

22.08.2006 The Union Cabinet has cleared the bill to reserve 27 per cent seats for other backward classes in all institutions of higher and technical education managed or aided by the central government. The bill will be introduced in the monsoon session of Parliament, which ends on Friday.

Condanna a morte in Iran - foto Amnesty Int.
07.08.2006 Delara Darabi è stata condannata a morte per la seconda volta, dopo che la Corte suprema aveva ordinato di rivedere il caso. La ragazza è a rischio di esecuzione imminente per un omicidio commesso quando aveva 17 anni. Secondo quanto riportato, Delara Darabi uccise una donna nel corso di una rapina nel suo appartamento, insieme a un suo complice, Amir Hussein. La ragazza avrebbe inizialmente ammesso la propria colpevolezza per poi ritrattarla, affermando di essersi assunta la responsabilità dell’omicidio su richiesta di Hussein, affinché questi fosse scagionato. Hussein riuscì a convincere la ragazza che non sarebbe stata messa a morte in quanto minorenne. Dopo l’arresto e la sua “confessione”, Delara Darabi fu condannata a morte da una corte della città di Rasht. In seguito alla mobilitazione di Amnesty International e di altre associazioni internazionali, la Corte suprema ha ordinato un nuovo processo per la ragazza. Processo che, purtroppo, ha avuto esito negativo. Amnesty International chiede la fine dell’applicazione della pena capitale nei confronti dei minorenni e di sottoscrivere l'appello online sul sito.
