SAN FRANCISCO, Jan 24 (OneWorld) - At least 186 antiwar protests in the United States have been monitored by the Pentagon's domestic surveillance program, according to documents obtained by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which also found that the Defense Department collected more than 2,800 reports involving Americans in a single anti-terrorism database.

The Humanitarian Law Centre addressed Boris Tadic, Serbian President, to warn him about the situation concerning Lakic Djorovic, lieutenant colonel of Serbian Army, who is exposed to abuse, humiliation and threats to his own life and the safety of his family ever since 2000, when he first talked publicly about war-crimes in Kosovo, and of which he knew due to his position as military prosecution officer in Pristina.

Le migliaia di ragazzi che diedero vita alle manifestazione di protesta contro la 'ndrangheta conosciuti come "I ragazzi della Locride" nei mesi scorsi sono stati spesso al centro della ribalta mediatica: il movimento giovanile ha finito così per dar fastidio alla criminalità organizzata che nei mesi scorsi varie volte ha distrutto le coltivazioni della cooperativa Goel che lavora su territori confiscati. Ma è oggetto anche di strumentalizzazioni tanto che i ragazzi di Ammazzatecitutti hanno accusato il presidente del Consiglio Regionale Giuseppe Bova di accaparrarsi i meriti presentando alcuni giovani del suo partito come rappresentanti dei "giovani della Locride". Bova ha replicato alle accuse del movimento querelando Aldo Pecora, uno dei suoi esponenti più attivi, e accusando tutto il movimento di essere in realtà formato da pochi estremisti.

Miehet tuomittiin Dujailissa vuonna 1982 siviileihin kohdistuneista rikoksista. "Vastustan kuolemanrangaistusta kaikissa olosuhteissa," Arbour sanoo ja lisää, että toimeenpannut tuomiot voivat vaikeuttaa puolueettoman oikeusprosessin toteutumista vastaavissa tapauksissa myös tulevaisuudessa.

Amnesty International condanna lesecuzione, avvenuta questa mattina, del fratellastro di Saddam Hussein, Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti e dell'ex presidente del Tribunale Rivoluzionario, Hamad al-Bandar al-Sadun, come una "brutale violazione del diritto alla vita e unulteriore opportunità persa per gli iracheni di veder rispondere del proprio operato i responsabili dei crimini commessi sotto il regime di Saddam Hussein". Anche il Presidente del Consiglio italiano, Romano Prodi ha ribadito la condanna delle due esecuzioni capitali. E AsiaNews segnala che a seguito anche dell'impiccagione dei due gerarchi del regime di Saddam "si approfondirà la frattura tra sunniti e sciiti: è questa la convinzione più diffusa tra gli iracheni contattati dall'agenzia.
