27.08.2007 The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) is dismayed by the assault, detention, and harassment of local journalists by the security forces and members of the interim government in Bangladesh, that have resulted in widespread self-censorship, particularly among broadcast outlets.

21.08.2007 International Press Freedom and Freedom of Expression Mission to Nepal have welcomed the endorsement of the Right to Information Act and Working Journalists Act amendments, in Nepal. They also said that it commends those journalists and media that have advocated for legislative reform and defended press freedoms.

20.08.2007 Maoist labour union in Nepal has prevented two privately-owned national dailies, "The Himalayan Times" and "Annapurna Post", from being printed and distributed. Reporters Without Borders has voiced concern about a growing threat to press freedom in Nepal.

20.08.2007 The government of Pakistan is condemned by the opposition for withholding the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Amendment Ordinance. The government is accused of having mala fide intentions that the ordinance had been withheld to put pressure on the electronic media to agree to a code of conduct of its interest.

Olimpiadi in Cina: la denuncia di RSF
09.08.2007 Ad un anno dalle Olimpiadi, ieri la polizia cinese ha trattenuto per alcune ore i giornalisti di "Reporters sans frontières" (Rsf) che hanno promosso una manifestazione nella quale accusavano il governo cinese di non aver mantenuto le promesse in materia diritti umani e libertà di espressione fatte nel 2001 a Mosca quando i Giochi Olimpici del 2008 furono assegnati alla Cina. I rappresentanti di Rsf stavano tenendo una conferenza stampa non autorizzata davanti alla sede del Comitato organizzatore dei Giochi (Bocog) a Pechino indossando magliette con le manette al posto dei cerchi olimpici. "Non chiediamo il boicottaggio dei Giochi: chiediamo solo fatti concreti, come la liberazione dei prigionieri politici, la liberalizzazione del web e la fine delle interferenze sulle trasmissioni radio sgradite" - ha detto il responsabile di Rsf per l'Asia. Anche Amnesty International e Human Rights Watch hanno reso noto in questi giorni i loro rapporti dove denunciano le violazioni dei diritti civili in Cina.

The programmes have been made by grassroots communities and relate to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Nepal - No freedom of expression?
03.08.2007 Gorkhapatra Corporation, government-owned media group in Nepal, has dismissed forty-nine journalists who were working there for the past 11 years. The President of Federation of Nepalese Journalists condemned the decision which is based on the political interest of the management.
