20.06.2006 Il presidente del Centro siciliano di Documentazione "Peppino Impastato", Umberto Santino, č stato condannato nei mesi scorsi a pagare 7500 euro per diffamazione del politico siciliano Calogero Mannino in quanto nel pubblicare un testo anonimo che girava a Palermo dopo le stragi del 1993 Santino ne avrebbe condiviso il contenuto. Inutile la difesa di Santino che ha ricordato che il suo č stato un lavoro storiografico e che per questo ha riportato il testo anonimo. Un testo, afferma Santino, dove "menzogne e veritą si mescolano" e che "puņ essere un’indicazione di piste valide oppure un’accorta operazione di depistaggio o tutte e due insieme”. Le associazioni antimafia affermano che sentenze del genere minano la possibilitą di ricerche storiografiche e l'interesse pubblico alla conoscenza e all'approfondimento di fenomeni sociali come la contiguitą tra mafia e politica e rilanciano un appello per "la libertą di stampa nella lotta antimafia".

12.06.2006 APC osuđuje neopravdano kršenje slobode govora bloggera i novinara u Egiptu. Alaa Seif Al-Islam, iskusni blogger i suradnik APC-a je jedan od četiri egipatska bloggera koji se od 7. maja nalaze u pritvoru zbog kritiziranja vladajućeg režima. Uz to, APC je dobio uznemirujuće informacije o nasilju koje su izvršile snage državne sigurnosti protiv većeg broja bloggera koji su pušteni iz pritvora prošlog tjedna i koji će biti ponovno uhapšeni. Vlasti su onemogućile odvjetnicima za ljudska prava da posjete bloggere koji su pretučeni i mučeni u četvrtat 25. maja.

APC demands freedom for Alaa and other 47 Bloggers detained in Egypt
12.06.2006 APC condemns the unjust detention of free speech bloggers and journalists in Egypt. Alaa Seif Al-Islam, a seasoned blogger and APC colleague, is one of four Egyptian online diarists being held in detention for criticising the current regime since May 7. In addition, APC has heard disturbing reports about violent actions taken by state security against several of the bloggers who were released from custody last week, only to be subsequently re-arrested. Authorities prevented human rights lawyers from visiting the bloggers who had been beaten and tortured on Thursday May 25.

12.06.2006 Tanskassa julkaistujen Muhammed-pilakuvien jälkipuinti osoitti, etteivät EU-maat ole yksimielisiä ulkomaalaiskysymyksen suhteen. Suomessakin pohdittiin sitä, voisiko meillä käydä näin. Kysymykseen siitä, voisiko meillä käydä näin, ei ole selvää vastausta. Ruotsiin verrattuna sekä Suomessa että Tanskassa asenteet ulkomaalaisia kohtaan ovat kielteisempiä, mutta kuitenkin yleensä yli eurooppalaisen keskiarvon.

01.06.2006 Reporters Without Borders today hailed a Californian appeal court’s “historic” decision on 26 May that online journalists and bloggers have the same right to protect their sources as other kinds of journalists. The ruling was issued in a case between the US electronics manufacturer Apple and websites that posted confidential information about some of its products.
