Pokret DOSTA! organizira mirne proteste svake subote, javno se suprotstavljajući (ne)radu vladinih predstavnika/ca za građanstvo. Ovi protesti su reakcija na opće nezdravo stanje države i loš kvalitet života u BiH, a posebno se ističe da je protest i protiv nedavnog poskupljenja struje u BiH. I danas, 29. aprila protesti počinju na Trgu BiH Sarajevo u 12.00 sati.

Nearly 2,000 people marched on Friday in the heart of Delhi to protest against government policies causing displacement of people all over India. They later submitted a memorandum to President APJ Abdul Kalam seeking stoppage of construction work on the Narmada dam till people are rehabilitated and making a national law that prevents displacement of people without rehabilitation.

Amnistía Internacional considera una violación grave de los derechos humanos la aplicación de leyes de "sodomía" para encarcelar a personas del mismo sexo que, en privado y de común acuerdo, mantienen relaciones sexuales. El actual artículo 204 conculca numerosas disposiciones del derecho internacional en materia de derechos humanos.

More than a dozen civil society organisations gave a call on Thursday to support the ongoing Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) agitation and ensure that millions of Indians getting uprooted due to development – construction of dams, digging of mines and setting up of industries – are given their rights by the government.

Indian NGO Navdanya has said that the package announced by the Indian government to prevent farmers's suicides - that seeks to increase the flow of credit into rural areas - will only lead to more frustration and suicides among farmers. Navdanya's assumption is based on the fact that capital intensive agriculture is pushing farmers into debt and suicides.

The Nigerian government must take the lead in ending discrimination against millions of "non-indigenes" -- citizens who cannot show that their family roots are native to the community in which they live -- in part to better secure the country's increasingly fragile unity, according to a report by Human Rights Watch (HRW) released here (Washington)Tuesday.

The north east Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh has brought out its first human development report (HDR) which finds that the state has a unique opportunity to map out a people-centred development path that is sustainable and ecologically sound. Lack of community-based development in Arunachal Pradesh has resulted in slow progress on human development indicators.

The Hong Kong-based human rights organisation Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has called for Nepalese king Gyanendra to step down so that people can bring him to justice. The organisation says that the king's defiance to restore democracy has only made the people more determined to oust him.

In its latest Press Release, the Narmada Bachao Andolan has said that the Madhya Pradesh government, which had to rehabilitate the displaced people at the Narmada valley is resorting to lies by saying that these people are "outsiders". The NBA has alleged that such a stand by the government amounts to contempt of the Indian Supreme Court.

Uno studio pubblicato oggi dall'Alto Commissariato delle Nazioni Unite per i Rifugiati (UNHCR) sul Regolamento Dublino II dell'Unione Europea - che stabilisce le regole per l'individuazione dello stato membro responsabile dell'esame di una domanda d'asilo - evidenzia la necessità di una sostanziale revisione, al fine di assicurare il rispetto dei diritti di richiedenti asilo e rifugiati. Il rapporto dell'UNHCR è stato reso pubblico proprio mentre la Commissione Europea è impegnata nella preparazione di una propria revisione del Regolamento. "Sia nel Regolamento in sé che nella sua messa in pratica, si rilevano lacune che, oltre a causare sofferenze ai richiedenti asilo, possono anche rendere impossibile l'esame di una domanda d'asilo" - ha dichiarato Pirkko Kourula, direttrice dell'Ufficio per l'Europa dell'UNHCR, a seguito della pubblicazione del rapporto. nonostante il regolamento, un'armonizzazione delle politiche d'asilo e delle pratiche adottate all'interno dell'UE non è ancora stata raggiunta.
