"Bene la domenica, ma ora è necessario pensare subito al lunedì". Cosi Legambiente ha commentato il blocco delle auto di ieri nella pianura padana. "Questo blocco ha ribadito l'esigenza di un intervento antismog che coinvolga non solo i sindaci e le Regioni, ma anche le istituzioni nazionali, il Governo. Per far si che questo stop al traffico deciso dalla Regioni settentrionali non diventi la solita, inutile giornata di chiacchiere e buone intenzioni bisogna lavorare da subito per realizzare quelle azioni capaci di abbattere non solo le polveri sottili e i connessi rischi sanitari, ma in grado anche di affrontare a fondo il problema della congestione delle aree urbane". Intanto Legambiente ha presentato la seconda edizione di "Comuni Rinnovabili 2007", una mappatura delle fonti energetiche pulite nel territorio italiano.

Biodiesel@MIT is a group of MIT students, faculty, and staff whose goal is to install a biodiesel processor on the MIT campus as part of the MIT Energy Initiative. The processor would convert waste vegetable oil from campus dining facilities into biodiesel to be mixed with regular diesel fuel and used in the institute's diesel-powered Tech Shuttles.

Maailmanpankki on rahoittanut viime vuosina suunniteltua enemmän uusiutuvien energiamuotojen käytön lisäämiseen ja energian käytön tehostamiseen tähtääviä hankkeita. Tavoitteena on ollut lisätä näiden hankkeiden rahoitusta 20 prosenttia vuodessa, mutta kasvuvauhti on ollut suunniteltua suurempi.
