In Spagna, secondo un test effettuato dal Consiglio aragonese per l'agricoltura biologica (Caae), il 40% del granturco coltivato da aziende biologiche č risultato contaminato da OGM. I tipi di contaminazione trovati corrispondono a geni introdotti in mais ibridi commercializzati da diverse imprese multinazionali. I risultati di questo test dimostrano una volta di pił che la "coesistenza" non č possibile. A metą dicembre un cartello di 66 organizzazioni hanno richiamato il governo Zapatero in materia di biotech. Tra le richieste il fatto che il Governo prenda i provvedimenti opportuni per proibire le coltivazioni transgeniche nel momento in cui non sono controllati i meccanismi di approvazione degli stessi. Intanto la Commissione europea ha adottato una proposta per un nuovo regolamento sulla produzione biologica che propone un marchio biologico anche per i prodotti contenenti OGM, salvo in percentuale non superiore allo 0,9% per effetto di contaminazione accidentale. E' una polpetta avvelenata che rischia di mettere in pericolo il futuro del biologico commenta Francesco Ferrante, direttore generale di Legambiente.

Environmental organisations have brought a new suit against the French government in an attempt to prevent the departure of the decommissioned aircraft carrier, the Clemenceau, to India for ship-breaking purposes. The suit was filed in a Paris court.

Indian NGO, Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), has released the green ratings of the cement industry and finds that the sector is more energy-efficient than its counterparts in the US and Europe. Still, the Indian cement industry has to clean up its act because of its preoccupation with economics, not environment.

Arsenic enters Bangladeshi drinking water from soil near the surface rather than deep underground as thought, say researchers. The finding suggests that there is an unlimited supply of the poison to Bangladeshi water.

Decommissioned French aircraft carrier Clemenceau is headed to the world's largest ship-breaking yard - India - for being taken apart. This will also result in thousands of kgs of toxic wastes being exported to the country which will pose a hazard to both environment and people.

New Delhi-based Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) will present its findings of the Indian cement industry on December 16, 2005. the ratings will be released by Prof. MS Swaminathan in New Delhi. CSE has earlier conducted the ratings of pulp and paper, automobiles and chlor-alkali for their adaptation of environment friendly and non polluting technologies.

Kako se navodi u priopćenju Ministarstva zatite okolia, prostornog uređenja i graditeljstva (MZOPUG ), na 11. zasjedanju Konferencije UN-a o promjeni klime u Montrealu 09.12.2005. godine donesena je odluka po kojoj će se, kako je predviđeno člankom 4. stavkom 6. Konvencije, Hrvatskoj dozvoliti novi proračun godinje razine emisija stakleničkih plinova koja je određena na temelju referentne 1990. godine.

Director of environment NGO Toxics Link Ravi Agarwal in his letter to Microsoft chairman Bill Gates says that philanthropy and info-tech are fine, but the illustrious entrepreneur and businessman should also think of a cleaner world. Agarwal says that 500 million old computers which are to be disposed off in Europe and the US head towards India, Africa and China.

The 1984 explosion of toxic gas from a chemical plant in Bhopal, India continues to offer dire lessons on corporate accountability and chemical pollution. The CEO of Union Carbide and its current owner, Dow Chemical, have not been held accountable for the corporate mismanagement that led to the catastrophe or for their role in dealing with today's pollution.

A student group from Delhi has made a film Closer to Reality and published a report on the continuing tragedy of the gas-affected people in Bhopal. The worlds worst industrial disaster, in which 20,000 people were killed and thousands maimed, haunts people 21 years later.

Coca-Cola es culpable de causar escasez severa de agua en comunidades. Contaminar el agua y suelo al derredor de sus facilidades de embotellamiento. Distribuir su desecho tóxico como 'fertilizante' a los campesinos. Vender bebidas con pesticidas en India - algunas veces mįs altos que 30 veces las normas de EU.

In another show of growing discontent with Coca-Cola's bottling operations in India, over 800 community members marched on Wednesday, November 30, to Coca-Cola's factory gates in Mehdiganj in northern India, demanding that the factory shut down immediately.
