19.01.2007 Medici senza Frontiere (Msf) rilancia l'appello online alla Novartis affinchè la multinazionale rinunci all’azione giudiziaria contro il Governo indiano. "La causa intentata dalla multinazionale farmaceutica Novartis contro la legge Indiana sui brevetti potrebbe ostacolare l’accesso ai farmaci per i Paesi più poveri" - afferma Msf. "Se vincerà la multinazionale, milioni di persone in tutto il mondo potrebbero infatti perdere l’unica fonte di medicinali a prezzi accessibili". Anche Msf usa i farmaci indiani per trattare l’80% dei suoi 80mila pazienti sieropositivi. Nel 1999 insieme ad altre 38 multinazionali farmaceutiche la Novartis aveva citato in giudizio il Governo del Sudafrica, allora guidato da Nelson Mandela, per costringerlo a ritirare la legge che consentiva la produzione in loco di farmaci contro l’Aids a prezzi più contenuti. Le proteste dell’opinione pubblica di tutto il mondo costrinsero le 39 "Big Pharma" a ritirarsi dal processo nel 2001.

02.01.2007 La Campagna contro il commercio di armi (CAAT) ha deciso di intraprendere un'azione legale contro il governo britannico per la decisione del premier Tony Blair di far interrompere l’inchiesta per corruzione che il Serious Fraud Office stava conducendo da due anni su BAE Systems, la società britannica di forniture militari: l’indagine riguardava mazzette e fondi neri, pari a 114 milioni di dollari, impiegati dalla compagnia per corrompere dignitari dell’Arabia Saudita pagando prostitute, Rolls-Royce e vacanze in California. La decisione di Blair arriva dopo che il Governo saudita aveva minacciato di annullare l'accordo con la Gran Bretagna per acquistare 72 caccia Eurofighter Typhoon del valore 6 miliardi di sterline (9 miliardi di euro) e offrire il contratto alla Francia. "Una vicenda di cui la stampa britannica denuncia tutta l'ipocrisia di Blair e che sta portando ad un'inchiesta dell'Ocse: ma sulla quale sorvolano gli organi di stampa italiani. Eppure qualcosa da commentare ci sarebbe visto che la commessa araba degli Eurofighter riguarda anche l'italiana Finmeccannica che per il 20% controlla il consorzio produttore del caccia" - commenta Giorgio Beretta della Rete italiana disarmo.
