Agrobio México es una "asociación civil" cuyos miembros son las trasnacionales Monsanto, Syngenta, Dupont, Bayer y Dow. Son las mismas que controlan los cultivos transgénicos en el mundo. Solamente Monsanto controla 88 por ciento.

La negativa de la mayoría de gobiernos latinoamericanos a establecer que se indique en las etiquetas si un producto es transgénico, no sólo viola el derecho de los consumidores a estar informados, sino también su libertad de elegir.

Los parlamentarios reconocieron el papel que desempeñaron los grupos organizados de productores orgánicos para que esta ley fuera aprobada. “Esta ley es fruto de los agricultores” coincidieron las diputadas y diputados que hicieron uso de la palabra.

Greenpeace International released findings that show illegal GE (genetically engineered) rice from China has contaminated food products in France, Germany and the UK. Greenpeace has notified authorities that the illegal GE rice poses serious health risks and calls upon European governments to take immediate action to protect consumers.

Sadat ihmiset ovat menehtyneet ja kymmenettuhannet menettäneet kotinsa Etiopiaa pyyhkivissä tulvissa. Afrikan sarven kuivuuskriisiä ovat seuranneet kuukausia kestäneet rankkasateet. Joet ovat tulvineet alankoalueilla. Etiopian pohjoisosissa sijaitseva Amharan alue on yksi pahiten kärsineistä. Arviolta 200 000 ihmistä kärsii sateista, joiden arvioidaan kestävän vielä viikkoja. Tilanne voi huonontua entisestään.
